We went to the cider mill with some friends last week. We enjoyed some hot cider, hot doughnuts, Brooklynn got to see animals, and run around with her little friends. We had a grand old time!!!
While I am at it here are a few more pictures of Brooklynn:
Brooklynn is learning her body parts "eyes".
This is Brookies favorite thing right now. She growls like a lion, and she loves when Derek chases her around in this lion costume. She thinks of it as a big stuff animal.
Brooklynn absolutely LOVES playing with Derek!!! I am pretty sure her favorite part of the day is when Derek comes home from school. She immediately finds her favorite toys and starts throwing them at him. You would think I never play with the girl, but seriously I do my best to entertain that girl all day. I guess I am not as fun as her Daddy!!! But if she is sick or tired she wants me, I'm there for stability and Derek's there for entertainment...ha ha! That's what Derek says anyway.
Brooklynn is in the NO stage. She loves saying that word, especially to other kids, and I hate that word (since she says it all the time). Derek and I have banned the word from our house. So instead of telling her NO we are saying it in different ways (hoping that helps). How long does this NO stage last? Any suggestions to help her replace it to a happier word?

No stage is pretty short, no worries! This outing to the cider mill looks like a perfect family day- wish we had one here and glad you had fun with your sweet family!
Um, my 8 year old still says it all the time....if you figure out how to kick the habit, let me know!
I would have LOVED to be with you at the cider mill . . . you know how I love field-tripping! What great fall fun. The word "no" is just a fact of life with toddlers. Scott finally came out of it about the time he went to high school! It's the way that kids initially start to separate themselves from you. You can start saying things to her like "I know you'd PREFER not to have a nap but NEVER THE LESS you are going to lay down for awhile" or "I know you'd RATHER not share your toy, but so and so would like a turn also". You can start to teach even young children to talk about preferences as opposed to just yelling "NO". It doesn't take immediately, but they do catch on. However, plan on hearing the word "no" at least a few thousand more times. Sorry! Love ya, Sandra
I'm totally with you on the stability vs. entertainment. Hallie LOVES when Ben get home even though I play with her all day. Ahh the joys of being a mom! I guess it gives the dads something to look forward to. Brooklynn just keeps getting cuter I swear!! You always take such great pictures of her too.
So how's this second pregnancy? Still sick?
I've been thinking that it was just a year ago that we were in Ann Arbor and WE went to the cider mill!!! Instead, we'll see the FOUR of you in February!
